The Communication Clinic was set up for people living with acquired communication and swallowing problems.

The Communication Clinic provides specialist services for adults with acquired and progressive neurological impairment including: Stroke, Brain Haemorrhage, Encephalitis, Head Injury, Brain Tumour, Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.

These conditions may result in the following:

  • Difficulties with language (reading, writing, speaking & understanding) APHASIA / DYSPHASIA
  • Difficulties producing speech due to muscular control DYSARTHRIA
  • Difficulties planning the movements for speech DYSPRAXIA
  • Difficulties with social interaction due to cognitive impairments COGNITIVE COMMUNICATION IMPAIRMENT
  • Voice problems DYSPHONIA
  • Difficulties with swallowing DYSPHAGIA
